Note: For Rigid Diaphragm Analysis of EQ or Wind loads, Steel or Reinforced Concrete (RC) Lateral Force Resisting System (LFRS) software tools are able to model Special Moment Resisting Frames (SMRF’s) as well as other LFRS; in contrast, RC Shear Wall RDA - EQ can only model shear walls.
Case Studies are provided (EQ loads only) for Steel or Reinforced LFRS software tools to check SMRF results obtained in simple buildings of various heights (using SAP2000) and following ASCE 7 Section 12.8 (Equivalent Lateral Force Procedure) criteria.
