Perforated Shear Wall Stiffness

Description of Software Tool:

The above referenced Excel Software Tool is provided for obtaining the in-plane stiffness of a Reinforced Concrete (RC) or Masonry Shear Wall with rectangular perforations within the panel (such as doors or windows), used subsequently for determination of lateral loads in a Rigid Diaphragm Analysis (RDA). The perforated wall would be part of the Lateral Force Resisting System (LFRS) at a particular floor level, where the story shear (sum of story forces above that floor level) is distributed to LFRS elements according to their relative stiffness and distance from the Center of Rotation (COR).
