The above referenced Excel Software Tool is provided for the design of AISC 341-10  Special Concentric Braced Frames (SCBF) with 2 columns using Pipe Braces, which are considered to be pinned at all connections.

Connection Procedure 1 is used for connections, defined here as using the procedure used in AISC 341-05 Example 3.10 (SCBF Brace-to-Beam Connection Design) and Example 3.11 (SCBF Brace-to-Beam/Column Connection Design) and updated for AISC 341-10 terminology and criteria. Briefly summarized, Brace-to-Beam connections above and below the Center Beam consist of a single gusset plate with 3/8” stifferer plates to which both braces are welded; slit braces are reinforced at the connection with welded cover plates cut from brace sections. The same pipe brace reinforcement detail is used for Brace-to-Beam/Column Connection Design.
